Charles Jones Obituary

JONES, Charles William, 83, of Glen Allen, Va., died Friday, December 5, 2008, of pancreatic cancer. Mr. Jones was a native of Spotsylvania County and a longtime resident of Fredericks-burg. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later in the U.S. Merchant Marine. In 1959, he joined the Campus Police Department at Mary Washington College. After 30 years of service there, he retired as the Campus Police Chief. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mildred Stephens Jones, of Glen Allen; daughter, Sheri Jones, also of Glen Allen; son, William Jones of Colonial Beach; two granddaughters; two grandsons, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Interment will be private. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
