Mrs. Atkins & family, I was so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.
I knew & was a close friend of Carl's back when he was stationed here at Mather AFB, CA & with our Mather Goldusters M/C club in the late 1970's & early 1980's & know his 2 sons, Carl IV & James very well, as a matter of fact, my 2 kids grew up with & went to school with Carl IV & James.
Carl was an absolutely wonderful man, very kind & generous to everyone he met. He always had a smile on his face, no matter what.
He will be missed. I will miss my dear friend very much.
I will keep you & the family in my thoughts & prayers. May God be with you & give you strength as time goes on.
May God Bless you all.

Dear Atkins Family: I worked with Carl at HCPS. I think you should know just how special he was. Always a smile and a willing hand for any one of us. We will all miss him and listening to his stories. I will miss the Kahki shorts and flip flops, the safari hat and "Ms. Froggy" sitting on his bus. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. God bless you all and may you find peace in your hearts during this Christmas season.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. Carl will be missed at our "layover" while waiting for kids to come out. The "bus quakes" and that hat of his are truly trademarks of Carl.

It is difficult for anyone when a loved one dies, and your family has suffered a double tragedy. Carl gave so much to all the students and bus drivers, I will miss the laughter and the smiles. (and the jokes)
sorry for your loss,

All of Carl's friends at FIRST are shocked and saddened by the news of Carl's passing. Over the past 10 years, I have relied on his advice, his ready smile, and a bit of philosophy to get through some rough spots. He was one of the really, really good guys. Our hearts go out to Lyndell and Carl's family. Many, many thanks for lending him to us. It was an honor to know him.

I will miss seeing you at every meeting and every event. You always made a stranger feel like a long time friend, and your smile made the atmosphere feel so welcoming to all that walked passed you Carl. Though you will be dearly missed by many here...I know that the man upstairs called you home, for you are one of the special ones who He has bigger plans for. I am just glad God shared you with us here for the time He did...for all who were lucky enough to call you friend...you will never be forgotten!! Thank you for your beautiful and warm smile.....I will miss that the most!!!
