Florence Buchwald Rasmussen

RASMUSSEN, Florence Buchwald, 93, recently of Salisbury, N.C., longtime resident of the Danish community in Elko, Va., passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2008. Born in Kenosha, Wisc., she was preceded in death by her husband, F. Wilbert Rasmussen; parents, Peter Bredahl and Magdalene Rohr Buchwald; and grandson, Jeffrey T. Sale. She is survived by a daughter, Anne R. Lyles; two grandsons, Preston K. Sale, and Karl K. Sale; special family friend, Ken Weaver, all of Salisbury; and several other family members in the Richmond area. Florence worked for many years with Guardian Life Insurance Co. in Richmond. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, the Windsor Club of Elko, the Eastern Star, and the Danish Club of Virginia. The family will receive friends 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, December 14, 2008, at the Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Monday. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Richmond. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, P.O. Box 14, Sandston, Va. 23150.
