Lucille McPherson Kirkland

KIRKLAND, Mrs. Lucille McPherson, 84, of South Hill, died Saturday, December 13, 2008, in Medical College of Virginia Hospital, in Richmond. She was a homemaker and the widow of Wallace Rudolph Kirkland. Mrs. Kirkland is survived by her two daughters, Anne K. Tanner and husband, Cleve, of Forksville and Marilyn K. Poole and husband, John, of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Joseph E. McPherson of Denver, Colo.; and two sisters, Camilla M. Hull and Diana M. Gallup, both of Elizabeth City, N.C. Lucille was a woman of great faith. Throughout her life she was involved in numerous church activities. She opened her home, which was affectionately known as "Cille's Chapel," for Bible study and prayer groups. Only God knows the number of lives Lucille touched. A memorial service will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m., in First Baptist Church, in South Hill, with a visitation/reception to follow.
