For twenty years I served as the adult consultant in Sunday School for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. I remember with such fondness the opportunity to visit with Wayne each year at our December meetings in Nashville. Now I am saddened upon learning from Eloise Goode of Wayne's death. You are certainly in my prayers for comfort, strength, and encouragement from our Heavenly Father as you cope with this loss.

Barry, Josh, Meredith, and I had the privilege of serving with Wayne at the Retreat for the Mentally disabled in Eagle Eyrie for years. He was a sweet, humble servant with a joyful and playful spirit. We will miss him and we will be praying for you Peggy and Bert.

Peggy & Bert:

We received the sad news of Wayne's passing. We remember fondly our days together on the Piankatank. What a special person Wayne was to campers from all over the state. His grace will be missed. However, we can rejoice with you knowing that Wayne is now with his Lord, in a much better place.

Warm Regards ~ Jeremy & Michelle

Dear Peggy,
I serve in the NC Baptist Convention in preschool ministry and knew and worked with Wayne for several years. Eloise Goode via Diane Smith shared about the death of Wayne. He will be missed. We have prayed for him many times during his past years of illness. I pray that the prayers of others will give you the strength to face each new day that God gives you.

Wayne was such a super man. I remember his smile and his pleasant way. I also remember his beautiful African violets - he had the knowledge of how to keep these blooming and beautiful. Peggy and Burt my heart grieves with yours in this great loss. Caring love

Wayne was a wonderful man and an inspiration to all he met. In whatever capacity he served, he did it with grace, dedication, encouragement, and a smile on his face. In all things, it was evident that he served a mighty God and enjoyed a personal relationship with him. He will be missed greatly! My prayers are with all who loved him, especially Peggy and the rest of the family. May God bless and comfort you in a way that only He can do.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
