ROBERTS, Gwathney, 99, of Aylett, Va., affectionately known as "Doc" peacefully went to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, January 15, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Johnson-Roberts and children; James E. Roberts and Ellen E. Lurry. He leaves to cherish fond memories, his devoted daughter-in-law, Mrs. Alma Roberts; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Henrietta Powell and Lucy Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland, Va. Family will receive friends Sunday, January 18, 2009 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Aylett, Va., and where funeral services will be held Monday, January 19, 2009 at 1 p.m. Interment church cemetery.
