Bessie Moran Wells

WELLS, Bessie Moran, 98, a longtime resident of the Masonic Home of Virginia, died Thursday, January 15, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus A. Wells; her sisters, Estelle Thurston and Sadie Cecil; and her brother, Sam Moran. Bessie was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and Mechanicsville Chapter #138, O.E.S., where she served as Worthy Matron from 1974 until 1975. She is survived by her nephews, Kenneth Moran and his wife, Faye, Wayne Moran and his wife, Ellen; and her sister-in-law and close companion, Eldora Hamilton. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, Rte. 301 and Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, followed by an Eastern Star Memorial Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Washington Memorial Park.
