Gertrude Marshall Obituary

MARSHALL, Gertrude, 99, of Ashland, died Monday, January 19, 2009, at Memorial Regional Hospital in Mechanicsville. Born September 23, 1909, in Wyoming County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Silas and Ada Morgan Green. She was a resident of Ashland, for the past four years. Prior to moving to Ashland, she lived the greater part of her life in Capels, W.Va. She was of the Protestant faith and attended the Full Gospel Tabernacle of Richmond and also attended the Gospel Chicken House regularly and had many loving friends who enjoyed the gospel music with her. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband, Huron Marshall; one son, Ronald Marshall; six brother and four sisters. Survivors include one son, Dennis Marshall and wife, Genevieve, of Capels; one daughter, Brenda Burge and husband, J.D., of Ashland, where she had made her home for the past four years; one half brother, Donald Green of Bluefield, Va.; one half sister, Cleata Cook of Brenton, W.Va.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 22, 2009, at 12 noon from the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Welch, W.Va., with Rev. Kenneth Felts and Rev. Ron Felts officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, W.Va. Friends may call Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be grandsons and family. Fanning Funeral Home of Welch is serving the Marshall family.

Brenda & J.D. My prayers are with you both I know you will miss your Mother but she in heaven now and the good Lord is taking care of her. You will call on him and he will give you strenght to get thru this very sorrowful time. I sure miss seeing her at church she was a very sweet lady. May God Bless you in your time of need.

Brenda, I was so sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. I knew she was in the hospital but had prayed she would be ok. God knows best - she is not suffering but has her glorified body according to His word. I loved her and will miss seeing you two together. Please know that my prayers are with you.
