Georgia Lanier Obituary

LANIER, Georgia Mae, 83, of Richmond, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, James Sidney Lanier; and her dear sister, Louise Knight "Weezie" Flora. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Diane Lanier (Jack Quigley); and her son, Roger Keith Lanier (Barbara); as well as her granddaughters, Jacqueline Lanier Quigley and Katherine Sydney Quigley. "Sweet Georgia" was a loving, devoted wife and mother for all these many years. She gave many years of service to the architectural firm of Wright, Jones and Wilkerson, where in her later years she was fondly referred to as a "tough old bird." Georgia loved to play Bridge, bowl and dance. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The family will receive friends Friday, January 23, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, where services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Richmond Chapter, 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.
