Well Laura, today would have been your 50th birthday!!! Instead of being sad, I am thinking about how you would have celebrated. You really knew how to throw a party! Since I am not able to give you your gift, I am sending a prayer you way, with the hopes that you will receive it somehow. Still missing you "Dear Friend".

The dove is a universal symbol for Peace & Serenity. Laura knew how much I loved windchimes and she picked this one out for me. It's Perfect.

Hey Laura!
Well, I am sitting here on my front porch sipping on my last cup of coffee for the morning. The windchime is singing to me and I can hear you loud and clear!

Thanks for the encouragement dear friend. I needed to hear that. Just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you too.

Love Ya!

Dear Eleanor I can not put into words how sorry I was to hear of Laura's passing. I had not been in contact with her for several years but it truly feels as if a family member is gone. The times we had working together at Safeway were the "best" of times and Laura was a big part of that. Every morning, her mischievous smile would assure me it would an interesting day. She plannned so many trips after closing to Lumms, I had to start inviting Beth so she would not wonder where I really was. She will be missed by all she touched.

To the Reidy family,
I am very sorry to hear you lost Laura; she was a lovely person and brightened our lives. Laura was kind, caring, mischievous, and in general, just plain lovable. I worked with Laura during the Lottery start-up and like many others immediately became her friend. Laura was very generous, had a wicked sense of humor and a face that warmed hearts.
Given the strength of her beautiful spirit, she shall live forever in our hearts.
My prayers and thoughts are with you during this sad time.

Laura, Who would have thought I would be writing this in memory of you much too early in your life! When I think of you, I see a smile and I hear a funny line, or your laughter. It was rare to NOT see a smile on your face. I remember those wonderful cucumbers you would bring in to work and share. Thankfully you enjoyed life and you shared that joy with others. It has been a couple of years since I last saw you but you have not been forgotten. You will be missed by many!

The Reidy Family,

I worked with Laura in the Finance Dept. and thought of her as a true "Lottery shining star". She brightened everybody's day with her smile, extraordinary wit and good cheer. She touched many people during her life as witnessed by the large numbers at the funeral home Friday night and in attendance for the funeral on Saturday. The love for you, her family, will always be there; it's just coming from a higher place. Know that our sympathies are overflowing.

On a lighter note, I always knew when Laura had entered the building because she wore the most distinct perfume. I have no idea what it was, but it smelled so nice and "it" was her. Whether I sensed it in the hallway, the elevator or the ladies' room, I knew when Laura was "in the house".

God Bless you all!

It must have been 24 years since I worked with Laura at the Willow Lawn Safeway. Just recently I ran across a picture of Laura at a going away party for a co-worker. In the picture she was laughing and her eyes were sparkling. It made me smile then. I'm sure she will be missed by everyone she ever met, but the memory of her is certainly a happy one.

Dear Henry, Eleanor, John, & Family,
Please accept my heart-felt sympathy for your loss. Laura, or "La La" as Hank, Robbie, Joey and Thomas liked to call her, will be missed by so many. She was a warm and generous spirit who enjoyed life, her family and her friends. The quote she chose for her SGHS class of 1978 reflection really touched me when I read it last night; it sure speaks volumes to Laura's spirit:
"To do something however small, to make others happy, is the highest ambition, the most elevating hope, which can inspire a human being."

Laura made a point of spreading happiness to so many. We will miss her luminous spirit. God bless Laura and your family.

The entire Reidy family have always been dear friends of mine especially in my formative years living in the Benedictine area when we were growing up. I am so sad to learn of Laura's passing and wanted to let the Reidy's know that I just learned this sad news and regret I was unable to attend any of the services to pay my respects. I hope that I will have the opportunity to visit with the family in the near future to pay my respects in person...Laura was always such a sweet person and we shared many special moments together in our youth. I always remember her being an extremely positive and upbeat person. I will sorely miss her. When events like this occur it brings to mind the sobering reality that life is short and we never no when our time has come. Carpe Diem! Love and Prayers,

Sincerely,

Dominic

Dear Eleanor,

Every time I pass by the house at Grove Avenue and Cleveland Street, I think of your family and how nice they were to me when you and I were freshmen at Marymount College. Laura was such a darling little girl, and I know she grew up to be a wonderful lady.

There is no greater compliment to someone as to be loved, admired, appreciated, cared for and now missed by so many.

To Laura's family.....as you can see, she was loved by so many and she has left a handprint on countless hearts. I'm sure there are so many thoughts and prayers going out to you guys right now that God is a little busy listening to them all.

To her co-workers and friends. She has been a part of your lives for over 20 years and that makes her family to you as well. Each of you have your stories and memories that will be a part of you forever and in that sense, she is never far from your heart. The grieving will last for awhile but then you'll catch yourselves laughing in your office, hallways and elevators and remembering the joy she brought to your lives and the smiles she will forever put on your face.

May Laura rest in peace knowing that she was loved by so many and brought so much to their lives.

Dear Henry, Eleanor and John,
I just picked got to the paper this morning. I am so very sorry about Laura's passing. I know how much she will be missed. Although I haven't seen her lately, I carry the memories of her generous spirit and zest for life with me. The two of us rented a Hertz truck after graduating from Elon and piled our junk in it. I can still see Laura behind the wheel of the truck going down 95 laughing the entire way. I would not trade that memory for anything...It still can cheer me up on a bad day. My heart goes out to you at this time.
Sincerly,

So many wonderful memories of Laura--her constant good humor, sparkling eyes, friendliness, sharp wit, the life of any party, kind nature, discerning taste for all the good things in life--her good qualities were these and so many more. We were just celebrating Diane's 50th birthday - and Laura proudly announced - with a gleam in her eye and that wonderful laugh - that she, too, would reach the half-a-century milestone this year. Oh, how we wish she would be here for that. She would have had one heck of a birthday party. Laura lit up the lottery's offices with her smile and her great attitude. I worked with Laura for 20 years, even going back to the lottery's "old building" on Broad Street. She was always up for celebrating - events that were big and not-so-big. She remembered the little things for everyone. And we will remember her.

I will miss, you, Laura.

Laura,

You are greatly missed already. I heard you laugh this morning... I was reminded to wear that green coat you loved!

I wondered to myself... Who will slice up cucumber with lemon and salt and serve them to me? Who will share their Ashland tomatoes with me? And who will get so excited about Florida grapefruits when I bring them back? I realize there will be others to share fruits and vegetables with but I want you to know that I truely valued your zest for life and its simple pleasures. I will remember you always but most especially when I drink sweet tea, eat at Chiocca's, put on my chunky silver bracelet and order a vodka tonic with a splash of cran! Thank you for knowing exactly how I felt when my mother left. Your words were genuine and heartfelt. I will wear her necklace and be grateful always that you tracked me down after finding it on the ground.

I know you are here still with each and every one of us. I can only say that I am thankful for the moments we were able to enjoy with you. "Happiness isnt a goal in life its and means," Thank you for adding a little happiness to my life!

To the Family,
It is so hard to say goodbye to someone who loved life so much. Laura was a wonderful person. Laura never seem to be in a a bad mood. Her fun loving spirit always made others feel better. She will truly be missed. I hope you find some peace in knowing her smile and spirited personality will always keep laura's memory alive. May God bless and keep you during this difficult time.

To the Reidy Family:

Words cannot express our sorrow for your family and for all of our friends that were fortunate to have known Laura.

God made Laura unique for a special purpose and she lived up to her calling. She always added laughter and "personality" to everything she did as well just made life more exciting for us all. We all had a wonderful childhood growing up together and our college experiences will always be cherished. You cannot think of Laura and not smile because we know she is smiling back at us.

One thing we can all be proud of is that we know Laura is in Heaven and now has the opportunity to celebrate with those she dearly loved and missed.

Please know that our prayers are with your family and that we are thankful to have had Laura touch our lives.

It is difficult to tell you how deeply I feel about Laura Reidy's untimely passing.
What started many years ago as a supervisor/subordinate relationship between Laura and I became a warm friendship. It was a priviledge to know her, and I will never forget how much she loved my cookies. She was my number one fan. We worked so well together. My most recent memory, that I will never forget is my 50th birthday, two weeks ago. Laura and I were born in the same year. She use to get a big kick out of sharing the year with at one time 5 other co-workers. I started the year and Laura brought up the rear in Sept. I normally take off on my birthday, but this year I had a special project to complete. I love birthdays and Laura knew this and she celebrated my birthday like it was her own. She will forever be in my heart and I will truly miss her. The 11th floor won't ever be the same. Her kindness and thoughfulness will be remebered and shared amongst her Lottery Family. With great personal sorrow, I ask to share your loss and to extend my heartfelt sympathy.

Sincerely,

Lisa Chernoff

As I read all of the beautiful entries in your guest book so far, it's easy to see how loved you are! You are a bright light in our lifetime and a gift to each of us that will never go away.

Your lovely toes, your awesome jewelry, your big cup of tea (never ending!) and your off the cuff witty comments (always wished I'd have come up with most of the stuff you said!) are a few of the things I will remember most about you! Just imagining your face in my mind brings a smile to my face!

You are already missed, but your spirit remains and that will always be a treasure to us all!

So here's to you my Friend! We'll save a seat and have a toast to you on "Thirsty Thursdays"... always! CHEERS!

I will never forget you Laura as long as I live. We knew each other thru childhood. You were part of our family as much of the rest of us. You were even in a family photo once, which just seem so appropriate. I haven't seen you in years but you came to my mind just this month. My sympathy goes to all of your family and I would like to send ya'll all a prayer to help comfort you.
A Poem for you in My Prayers Today
I asked the Lord to bless you
As I prayed for you today,
To guide and protect you
As you go along your way.
His Love is always with you.
His promises are true
And when we give Him all our cares,
We know He will see us through.
So when the road you're traveling
Seems difficult at best,
Just remember I'm here praying
And God will do the rest.
My prayers are with you all during your loss.....she will always be loved and remembered.
All my Love,

Henry, Eleanor and John,

I am at a loss for words – yet I can’t help but hear Laura’s voice saying ‘come on Laurie, you can do it’ – and then laughing. She often used that line to challenge me to do something devious, yet harmless, as we sat by the pool people watching (and of course working on our savage brown tans).

If I had to pick one word to describe Laura it would be ‘genuine’. She had a heart of gold and passion for life. Her love and laughter was contagious – and she had the gift of turning even the saddest of times into positive events. The number of people Laura has touched is enormous, and there are thousands of lives she has changed without them even knowing it.

My heart goes out to you during this unexpected and difficult time.

With love for you and Laura, Laurie

Laura has always been a generous and loving person. There are many wonderful things which could be said about her, but my most treasured memory is her brilliant smile. Laura has always had the most beautiful smile of anyone I've ever known and a soul to match.

Laura, although I did not see you as often as I wish, your bright face is so indelible it will be a fond memory that will last forever.

Dear Laura,
I know you can read this, even though you didn't have a computer at home so that you wouldn't buy so many shoes online. I know you would be so happy, seeing so many of your friends and family gathering and remembering all of the fun and loving things that we all enjoyed about you.

I'll always remember whenever that first day in Autumn would come and it would be cold, and you'd say you were putting the toes away for winter - meaning the end to open-toed shoes until spring. And those toes were always always always polished and manicured!

I'll always remember the morning you fell on the ice and came in to work so calm, saying "I think I just broke my arm." And you had.

I'll always remember you cooking those eggs, too, in your Aunt's skillet. And coordinating everybody else to bring in just the right things, whatever their specialty might be (like Diane's potatoes and Rob's casserole).

I love the way you would say "garage" and hearing your laugh every day.

But most of all, I will always remember and cherish your love for your friends and family. You enjoyed life to the fullest, and in doing so, all of us around you enjoyed our lives even more. I miss you, but will carry you in my heart forever and am so very grateful to call you my friend.

Dear Laura,
* I remember you making cheese & eggs in the 11th floor breakroom every time we had a Finance breakfast.

* I remember your “crazy” coffee cups that totally expressed your personality.

* I remember the great pot of coffee you used to make in the mornings and how you used to holler “Who made the coffee!” from the breakroom when somebody made a bad batch. (you loved your coffee)

* I remember how you used to look forward to your beach vacations with your friends and trips to Annapolis to see Eleanor.

* I remember how you LOVED your silver jewelry and how it looked so great with your tan.

* I remember how you used to look forward to fixing dinner for your nephews and always made sure that they got everything they wanted for Christmas.

* I remember how you used to sit down with me outside on the bench and tell me not to worry when I stressing.

* I remember how you would invite us all to your home and made sure we had a great time.

* I remember the cozy slippers you gave me one Christmas and how warm they make my feet feel to this day.

* I remember how we cried together when I told you I was resigning and how you told me I couldn’t leave.

* I remember the last email you sent me and how I smiled and thought how funny you were.

* I remember the wind chime you gave me as a housewarming gift and how it still sits on my front porch reminding me of you every time the wind blows.

Laura, there are so many things I remember about you but I am so sad right now because I don’t ever remember telling you how much I loved you. You were such a great friend, a super boss and a wonderful person! If I had one more day, I would make you a list a mile long to let you know how special you are to everyone who had the pleasure of really knowing you. But for now I will have to say farewell dear friend. I love you and will forever miss you!
