Olive Renick Obituary

RENICK, Olive Jean, 75, of Midlothian, passed away on January 21, 2009, after a long bout with cancer. The daughter of the late Dewey and Fern Renick, she was born in Williamsburg in 1933. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Dewey and Charles Renick. She is survived by her three nieces, Susan Lang of Englewood, Colo., Martha Renick of Lake Oswego, Ore., and Karen Renick of Austin, Texas; one nephew, Tim Renick of Richmond; and her lifelong friend, Michael Maxwell of Midlothian. Jean was a 1951 graduate of Mathew Whaley High School in Williamsburg, where she was president of her junior class and a 1956 graduate of Duke University where she obtained a B.S. in Nursing and was president of Duke Nursing School. After graduation she was manager of the Williamsburg Memorial Park from 1962 to 1969, worked for the Bank of Virginia in 1970 and the Miller Morton Company in 1971, where she was secretary for the VP National Sales Manager for Pet Care and Health & Beauty Aids. Upon retirement she spent many weeks traveling the world primarily on cruise ships, visiting such places as Bali, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Australia, Tahiti, Europe and Russia. A small memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian.
