Carolyn Grubbs

GRUBBS, Carolyn, 64, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 23, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer, spending her last days at home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, Clarence Grubbs; sons, Chris and his wife, Amber, and David Grubbs; one daughter, Becky Wyatt; six grandchildren, Isaac, Samuel, Rosie, and Clara Grubbs, David Seth Grubbs, and Danny Ray Wyatt Jr.; and a host of loving family members and friends. Carolyn was born June 8, 1944 in Richmond, Virginia, daughter of the late Richard and Gladys Campbell. She retired from the International Mission Board and also served as church secretary of Oak Hall Baptist Church for several years. Carolyn was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and she will be greatly missed. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for all the calls, cards, dinners, visits and prayers over the recent months. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2009, at the Mechanicsville Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2009, at Bennett Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Washington Memorial Park.
