GRUBBS, Carolyn, 64, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 23, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer, spending her last days at home surrounded by her family. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for all the calls, cards, dinners, visits and prayers over the recent months. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2009, at the Mechanicsville Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road. Dear Clarence and family,
My heart breaks for all of you as you mourn the loss of your precious wife, mother, and grandmother. I was privileged to meet Carolyn almost 10 years ago when I came to work at the IMB. She had just returned from dealing with the cancer the first time. I always knew her to be a person of great strength in the Lord that was gracious, kind, and loving to all that crossed her path. She also had a great wit, wonderful sense of humor, and a beautiful smile. I will never forget her love and compassion for me as I experienced the death of my child in 2000. She continued to remember me through the years on my difficult days although she was struggling with so much herself. That was the Carolyn that I will always remember. Always putting others in front of herself. Never complaining and always being a gracious woman of God a wonderful example for all to follow.
Praying that the Lord holds you all and comforts you in this very difficult time.
Love and prayers,

Judy Allard
