Helen Pulley Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Jan. 25, 2009.
PULLEY, Helen Vashti, 92, of Richmond, died Friday, January 23, 2009. An only child, she was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle Vashti Lowrie Pulley and David Tony Pulley of Richmond. She is survived by the children and grandchildren of her cousins throughout the United States. Her family particularly enjoyed Helen's memories of her adventures in costume as Mickey Mouse when she was a tiny young woman hired to accompany the Miller & Rhoads department store's Santa Claus during the Christmas season. She had been a resident for the past 20 years of The Lynmoore (formerly Ginter Hall West), where she leaves behind treasured friends and caregivers on the staff. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 26, in Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1925 Grove Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23220.

I wish I had gotten to know Helen better. She was my grandmother's cousin whom I had the pleasure of meeting a few times.

God be with you.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Ms. Pulley's family and devoted friends. She was truly a gift and one of the most friendly, loving and entertaining residents at Ginter Hall. I will miss her terribly. God Bless.
