Lawrence E. Wilson

WILSON, Lawrence E., 75, of Emporia, died Friday, January 23, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Lucy H. Wilson; son, Kenneth R. Wilson; and friend, Kathi Dettamore, all of Emporia; daughter, Connie W. Taylor and husband, Frankie, of LaCrosse; grandchildren, Jeremy B. Wilson and friend, Tina Joyner, Brandy L. Wilson and friend, Gary R. Jackson; great-grandson, Joseph Joyner; two brothers, B. F. Wilson Jr. of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., John Wilson and wife, Lorrell, of Emporia; two sisters, Virginia Rose Starke of LaCrosse and June Carol Morrisson of Zanesville, Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Wilson was son of the late Benjamin Franklin Wilson and Virginia Newsome Wilson, and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Dickie. Mr. Wilson was retired from Georgia-Pacific Corporation and was a charter member of Greensville Volunteer Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday (today) at Owen Funeral Home, Jarratt, Va., where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2009. Interment will follow at Emporia Cemetery.
