I remember Mrs Patterson as Mrs. Jones, my teacher @ Armstrong High School. What a great teacher she was ! Nobody like her, she was unique. I saw her again several years later with Mom by her side everytime. Mother was her best friend, I remember those words. She always had a smile on face, what a cheerful person I will never forget her. She was one of the best teachers I have ever had! God Blessed you with an angel until He was ready to call her home. Bless you and family Mr. Patterson

To The Family,
Mrs. Alease Audrey Jones Patterson's life was a testament for us. She made an impact on the teaching profession as she paved the way for many of us to adapt her style to pattern teaching careers.
Along with many of her former students from Armstrong High School
we are so thankful to have had the opportunity to be taught by a "Great Teacher."
She may be gone from this realm, but her essence still remains.

To the Family of Ms. Alease,
Ms. Alease will always have a special place in our hearts as she has touched us all. As she would always reply, "I am fine, I refuse to do otherwise". We love you and will miss you.

To The Family of Mrs. Patterson,
I too will miss Mrs. Patterson. She had a way about her that was truly unique and one of a kind. She was very encouraging and supportive to me when I was a student in college. She was responsible for me getting my first stint at substituting in the Richmond Public Schools back in the '90s. I will miss seeing her unique style of worship on Sunday mornings - she would start out in her seat, but before the service was over, would end up all the way in the front of the church greeting other parishioners as she made her way there and back.
I will miss her "Woo Who" exclamations during worship services and at choir rehearsals whenever something was said that she was in agreement with, which initially were very annoying, but later became a constant, because it was simply a part of her. I will miss asking the question, "How are you doing today?" and her response, "Oh, I am doing great, I refuse to do otherwise".
Oh, what I would give to hear those expressions just one more time, but God has bigger plans for you now. You are in a place where you can march, shout and sing as much as you would like and not have to worry about the opinions and comments of anyone.
Rest In Peace and Know that you and your family have been and will continue to be in my prayers.
Love,
Mollette Y. Lewis

To the Family:
Audrey became weary and Psalm 121 was her confort, I can see her know,"I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord".
Our beloved Audrey will be missed, for she touched so many lives in so many ways.
Find confort in knowing that Audrey is now with her Heavenly Father, in that great choir in the sky,
singing, "It is well with my soul".

As I reflect back on the time I have known Mother Patterson it brings a smile to my face. I had the pleasure of meeting Mother many years ago when she attended the Gospel Music Workshop of America sessions that took place every year around the end of February. I remember her pleasant smile and lovely voice. I would have never guess that when I attended the First Union Baptist Church that I would see her smiling face.I became accustom to hearing her sing " It Is Well With My Soul". On one of our visits to see her we sang that song and she sang with us. I pray that as time goes by that when you hear that song that it will bring joy to your soul as it did to hers.

To The Family of Mrs. Patterson:
I will miss her so much. I didn't talk to her much but thought of her a lot. I loved both her and her mother. I was once a member of the First Union Baptist Church and song on the choir with ms. p and was on the youth usher board with her mother. I will miss them both. She was always an inspiration to me growing up. My prayers are certainly with you. Brenda Lewis Williams

A Poem For Mrs. Patterson
What a wonderful woman we pay tribute to. Who was very faithful, and so true. To the encouraging words you always gave me "Beloved" I'll miss you but now you are free. I know you are in Heaven where the streets are gold. Just dancing and singing "It Is Well With My Soul." Thank you for the legacy you've left, as we continue our run. And I will never forget your favorite scripture "Psalm 121."
Love You Weldon,Tarsha, Taja, Tre, and Breezy

To the Family:
I will truly miss Mrs. Patterson, she was not only a dear friend, but also my high school teacher, she would always say proudly of her students, whenever she introduced them as "This is one of my students". She was truly an inspiration to me when I joined the First Union Baptist Church. She and her mother would sit together in front of me each Sunday. There will now be two empty seats before me in Church, but two seats filled in Heaven. Mrs. Patterson, thank you for being the kind of teacher who cared about her student's academic and spirtitual well being. I will always Love you.

Words cannot describe the love I will always have for Mrs. Patterson. She was one of my faithful supporters when I entered seminary. I remember our Bible study moments. During our prayer and praise time, Mrs. Patterson would get up and say,"Beloved, turn with me to Psalm 121...if you have it say amen, if not say, Audrey wait." Then like a biblical scholar she would exegete the text, breaking it down. Finally she would sing the song that was, is and shall be her clarion call to the rest of us on earth, "It Is Well With My Soul". Mrs. Patterson, thank you for being authentic in everything you did. You are and will always be a true original. She was a gifted teacher and a true humanitarian of the divine order. Mrs. Patterson, when you see Ms. Jones tell her that "I am still dancing and now I will continue to dance for you."
May the Lord God continue to be with the family of Mrs. Patterson. Please know that you will be in my prayers.

There are so many words that can describe Mother Patterson. To hear her say "Beloved" would bring a smile to my face. She was such a sincere woman who loved to love children. Children made her happy. Children playing, children laughing, children praying, children singing, children just being children ... she loved being in their presence. Right now I have to "look to the hills from whence cometh my help all of my help comes from Lord ..." Mother Patterson you will definitely be missed! A love like Mother Patterson's CANNOT be matched nor simulated. She was a designer's original! When I received word of her HOMEGOING on this side, I believe that her mother and others whom she loved was awaiting her as the guest of honor for her HOMECOMING on the other side!!! I believe this whole heartedly because when the tears began to spill over, I heard her voice clarion clear say, "IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL!" Since it was well with her soul, it is well with my soul! I love you Mother Patterson. My prayers are with your family.

There is an Angel in Heaven. What a beautiful, kind hearted, loving person Mrs. Patterson was. She was just like her mother Mrs. Alease Jones. She had a special place in heart for children. We will miss her saying "beloved". We know she is with God now, but she will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Mrs. Patterson, Rest in Peace.
