Hazel Darlene Patterson, 88 of Wichita formerly Arkansas City died Saturday, September 20, 2025 in Wichita.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 26, 2025 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Darlene was born July 23, 1937 to W.X. Elrod and Sadie Mae (Treat) in Arkansas City. She attended Arkansas City schools graduating from the high school in 1955. On March 27, 1964 she married H. Duane Patterson in Arkansas City where the couple made their home. Darlene was a homemaker and switchboard operator. She was an avid bowler, led Bible studies and member of the AC Music Club. Darlene was a longtime member of The Salvation Army , Home league, and Nazarene Church. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She always said live hard, love harder but do it in Gods glory. Darlene spread her love for God by posting a daily devotional dailey.

She is survived by her daughter, Melody Barr-Pendlay and husband, Bruce; granddaughter, Melissa Malone and Kyle; grandson, Brad Barr and Mindy all of Wichita; great grandchildren, Eli, Charlie, Sam, Annie, Bennett and Teddy.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sisters, Juanita Hutson, Geneva Dorman, Mary Loyd, Wanda Nation, Roxie Rickords and Opal Luper; brother, Bill Elrod.
