Kathie Kelly Obituary

KELLY, Ms. Kathie, of Richmond, passed away Monday, February 16, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital, Richmond, after a protracted battle with cancer. She was a native of Virginia and a local resident for 16 years. Ms. Kelly was employed by Computer Services Corporation as the Network Security Administrator. She was previously employed by Media General, Inc., Capital One, and taught at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business. Kathie was a veteran of United States Air Force and a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. She was an avid member of the Adventure Club of Virginia and was a world traveler. She would do Christmas newsletters with accounts of the past year's travels that read like they were written by Lowell Thomas. She was divorced and had no children. Ms. Kelly is survived by her brothers, Kevin, Stephen and Shawn Kelly of Mechanicsville, Va., Robert Kelly of Lakeland, Florida; two nieces, two nephews, two ferrets, two cats and many dear neighbors and friends. She chose cremation of her remains. A memorial service will be held at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make all donations to the Betty Baugh Animal Hospital of Richmond.

You were a unique individual with a tremendous spirit. I enjoyed many an Adventure Club trip with you & even spent my honeymoon with you in Maine! (SMILE) We raised a glass in toast to you last week. You will be missed.

I have many great memories of trips with Kathie in the Adventure Club. She trekked across New Zealand despite a broken knee cap and never complained. She will be missed.
