ROBINSON, Julian Carter Sr., age 85, of Chester, formerly of Emporia, a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, passed away March 2, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Eloise Worsham Robinson; sons, Julian Carter Robinson Jr. and Jay Scott Robinson Sr. and wife, Diana Newcomb Robinson; grandchildren, Jay Scott Robinson Jr. and McKenzie Nicole Robinson; brother, Jack Calvin Robinson and his wife, Nell, of Emporia; sisters, Wilma Doherty and Mable Gammon, both of Richmond; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Robinson retired as office manager of Benjamin Moore Paint Co. in Colonial Heights after 41 years of service. He enjoyed spending weekends on the Rappahannock River in Jamaica, Va. He was a kind and gentle man and will be missed dearly by his family and friends. His family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where funeral services will be held 12 noon Friday. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.

We only knew Mr. Robinson from our few short years as neighbors on the Rappahannock, but it was as though we had known him forever. He was a always working on something around the cottage, but you could tell by his smile that it was clearly a labor of love. He will be missed...
