I had not seen Kee Kee in recent years. But during my years of being a member of SI Edwards she always made me feel welcome and offered words of encouragement. Seeing someone so young serve God and her family so faithfully was a beautiful thing. That is how I will remember her. God Bless the family during this time of bereavement.

Death, be not proud

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.
Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.

Kee Kee and I worked and traveled together during our time at HRH. We got to know each other very well, and went through some strenuous times together, even on the other side of the country! I haven't seen Kee Kee in a couple of years, but I remember her smile vividly.

With deepest sympathy to her children, family and friends,
Amanda

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

I had the privilege of getting to know KeeKee when we worked together at HRH. She was kind, incredibly smart, and very, very brave. She spoke very often of her children, and loved them very much. To her children: As a person who lost a parent when I was a teenager, I can tell you from experience that you will never stop missing her, but in time you will remember all of the great things about how she lived and the funny, sweet things she used to do and say when you think of her. There will be times when you feel angry and upset that she isn't with you, but in time you will come to understand that she has already given you the most important things you can get from a parent. The way she described you, you are very capable and determined young people, and you made her extremely proud.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I worked with KeeKee at the City of Richmond for a short while but it seems like ten years. She had a love for the Lord that made us kin. We were sisters in Christ who while at work, weren't afraid to talk Him up. I miss her.

A precious bright smile and light has suddenly disappeared from us but not from God. He said that He will never leave nor forsake us. During distress and grief God will not leave you comfortless. Jesus will be with us until the end of the world for the dead in Christ shall rise first. This holds true for KeeKee, her family and all of us in Jesus' name who long for His appearance. You have our prayers and condolences.

For Portia, Little Ed and family, I am truly sadden to learn of the loss of your loved one. I remember what seems like years ago KeeKee and I were both attending VCU. We were both mothers with 2 children at home and struggling to get through it all. She showed me quiet determination. She always had words of encouragement when we passed on campus. We will all miss KeeKee, our sista in Christ.

To KeeKee's Family: During my time of mourning over the loss of my baby girl, KeeKee took the time out to offer me words of encouragement. She embraced me and told me that in time my wounds would heal. She also reminded me that God would not leave me comfortless and to stay strong. I want to offer those same words from KeeKee to you. She will truly be missed. We will keep you in our prayers.
