Corwin J. "Cory" Pommert

POMMERT, Corwin "Cory" J., 39, formerly of Chester, Va., departed this life Monday, February 23, 2009 in Bradenton, Fla. He was born July 15, 1969 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He is survived by his mother, Kay Adkins Collins; one sister, Carla Pommert Cherry; three brothers, Charles "Chip" Jacob Pommert Jr., Curtis James Pommert, and Craig Joseph Pommert; three stepsisters, Debbie Hill, Doreen "Reenie" Smith, and Carol Ann Royster; stepbrother, Charles Adkins; stepbrother-in-law, Scott Hill; sisters-in-law, Lori Pommert and Rhonda Pommert; seven nieces and nephews, Sara Gallagher, Jessica Pommert, Jake Pommert, Charlotte Cherry, Kaitlin Pommert, C.J. Pommert, and Brittany Pommert; and special family friend, Marie Random. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Jacob Pommert; and his stepfather, Thomas "Tommy" Ray Collins. He attended Thomas Dale High School in Chester, Va., from 1983 to 1987. Friends and family are invited to gather for a Service of Remembrance on Saturday, March 7, 2009, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church at 2025 Florence Avenue in Chester, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions be made to either of the following two organizations: NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness) of Manatee County, 5803 24th Street Court West, Bradenton, Fla. 34207, or the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1179, Bradenton, Fla. 34206. The family wishes to thank all those individuals, known and unknown, who extended a helping hand or spoke a kind word to Cory.
