William Royster Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Mar. 8, 2009.
ROYSTER, William Randolph "Randy," one of God's very special angels, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2009 at Ashwood Assisted Living (formerly Rest Haven Manor) where he resided for almost five years. Whenever asked why he liked living there, he would round out his arms and in his way say, everything. Randy loved everyone and always had a smile on his face. He never complained and enjoyed every day to the fullest, especially Christmas and his birthday. Randy was born on June 6, 1939 in Winchester, Va. He lived in Goochland County from 1945 until 1981, when he moved to the Peninsula. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Myers Royster. He is survived by his sister and guardian, Anne Gunther; brother-in-law, Karl; one aunt, Anna Coffman of New Market, Va.; and dear cousins and friends. He will be missed terribly by his sister, who made him her number on priority and loved him dearly. His favorite hymn was Jesus Loves Me and everyone who knew Randy knew Jesus did love him. A graveside service conducted by Reverend Richard Woodall will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at 1 p.m., at Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Avenue, Richmond, Va. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Special Olympics. Friends are encouraged to visit www.MeM.com to share words of comfort with the family. Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, Va. 23666.

Anne: I am so sorry to hear of Randy passing. I know you will miss him. I have such fond memories of our childhood on the Farm and Randy was a big part of that experience. I wish I could have been at his service.

Anne, I am very sorry to hear of Randy's passing. My father (Robert Waldrop) was so very fond of Randy. When I was a child at State Farm, I remember Randy would travel the farm with your Father. May you find comfort knowing Randy is with Jesus.

I am sorry to hear of Randy's death. He always had a great smile and thought alot of my dad when he was at the farm in Powhatan. (Robert Waldrop) our thoughts are with you at this time.

Anne,

I sorry to hear of the passing of your brother. I remember my mother telling me that she would see him playing on your front steps back when Route 6 went through State Farm.
