McCLURE, Nancy Ellen, of Chester, Virginia, passed away early on August 12, 2009. Nancy was born in the mountains of Virginia on March 21, 1926, and will be laid to rest in the valley of the Blue Ridge and Appalachians at Locust Bottom Cemetery in Botetourt County. She was married in 1951 and enjoyed a life of travel and adventure with her military spouse. When Nancy was not maintaining a family on the go, she volunteered at local hospitals, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, school events and for other social causes. She was sincerely loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Joseph McClure; her daughter, Sharon Kim Sweet and husband, Frank Sweet, and their children, Cameron and Sam; her son, Joseph W. McClure III and his wife, Katherine, and their children, Jessica and Lauren; and her sister, Peggy Maydian. Service arrangements have been made for 11:30 a.m. Friday, at Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge and graveside service at 1 p.m. at Locust Bottom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Nancy, please make contributions to the American Heart Association.

Mr. McClure, Sharon and family,

The next approaching days to the 1 yr. anniversary date of your loss may be difficult ones, as they were for me and my mother's in July. Take time to remember the joys, happiness and all the wonderful, treasured memories that you can recall. I did with my mother's and it really helped a lot. Feel comfort in knowing that your mother/wife is at peace. I did and felt comforted. I speak from the heart!
