Duane Robert McClure, a humble and devoted servant of God, was born on March 28, 1934, in Huntington, Indiana. He passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, in Marion, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and faith.
Duane enjoyed his career as a production worker at General Tire, where he was respected by his peers for his strong work ethic and gentle nature. He also proudly served in the United States Army, exhibiting a commitment to duty and excellence that characterized many aspects of his life.
A charter member and the first appointed Elder of St. James Lutheran Church, Duane exemplified the spirit of community and familial love. His warmth and compassion were evident in his everyday actions; he would often offer prayers for others before thinking of himself, never knowing a stranger and accepting everyone for who they were.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Dorothy McClure, and three children: sons David Noel (Jennifer) McClure and Daniel Keith (Kimberly) McClure, as well as daughter Debra Kay Bowman, brothers: Gary (Barb) McClure, Ronald (Carol) McClure, sister: Barb Conrad, plus many nieces and nephews. His legacy continues through his six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who cherished their time with him.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Donald R. McClure and Dorothy L. McClure, brothers James and Philip McClure, sisters-in-law Patricia McClure and Jean McClure and brother-in-law Michael Conrad. Duane leaves a significant void in the hearts of all who knew him.
Celebration of Life will be held at St. James Lutheran Church in Marion, Indiana, on December 2, 2025, starting with a visitation at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion that same day, with private graveside celebration with immediate family.
As family and friends gather to celebrate his life and mourn his passing, Duane will be remembered not only for his faithful devotion but also for the many lives he touched with his humility and grace. He has gone to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith that will endure through those who remain.
For those who wish, memorial contributions in memory of Duane may be directed to Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent, 2001 West 86th St., Indianapolis, IN 46260.
