Otis Garnett West

WEST, Otis Garnett, 88, husband of Pauline Jarrell West, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston. He was the son of John Bill and Bessie Yancey West and was born and reared in Mecklenburg County. After serving his country with the Army during World War II, Otis became a farmer. After retiring from farming, he worked at Lee's Store. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Jane Lyon officiating. Interment will follow in Bluestone Cemetery. In addition to his wife of 69 years, Mr. West is survived by his daughters, Barbara West Owen of Bullock, N.C., and Sandra West Boswell and husband, Tommy, of Chase City; and his son, Ronald Ted West and wife, Diane, of Dallas, Texas. Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, William Owen.
