HODGE, Michael Leonard, 59, of Hopewell, Virginia, died Friday, August 14, 2009. He was born in Radford, Virginia and was a retired lab technician with Honeywell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Nijah and Janet Nelson Hodge; a granddaughter, Abby Nicole Horne; and his mother and father-in-law, Aubrey Byron Jr. and Elizabeth Connelly. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Vicki Connelly Hodge of Hopewell; two daughters, Angela Hodge Horne and husband, Rusty, of Disputanta, and Amy E. Hodge Mullenix and husband, John, of Hopewell; a son, Michael Anthony Hodge of Hopewell; his pet dog, SweetTart; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Trey, Vicki, Haleigh, Nolan, Kristen and Michael; a sister, Jackie Gibbs and husband, Andy, of Prince George; a niece, Michelle Parr and husband, Kevin and their children, Amanda and Tyler of Hopewell; a nephew, Michael Gibbs and wife, Angela and their children, Alexis and Michael of Petersburg; and best friend, Dennis Bickings of Hopewell. The family will receive friends Monday, August 17, 2009 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Hopewell, with The Rev. Jeff Raymond, pastor, officiating. Interment will be private. Contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Va. 23058-5216 or First Baptist Church, 402 N. 2nd Avenue, Hopewell, Va. 23860.
