YOUNG, Catherine Beryl Thompson, of Richmond, formerly of Ashland, went home to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness on Friday, August 14, 2009. Ms. Young was a 1952 graduate of West Virginia State University, and was a teacher in the Newport News public school system and the Richmond public school system for over 35 years. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Elizabeth Young; granddaughter, Alexandra Kirksey; sister, Anne Sue Thompson; brother, Samuel Ray Thompson; sister-in-law, Edna Thompson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, two devoted, Elizabeth Harden of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Sallie Thompson of Atlanta, Ga. Remains rest at the F.E. Dabney Funeral Home, 600 "B" St., Ashland. Homegoing services will be Tuesday, August 18, 1 p.m. at the Shiloh Baptist Church, 106 S. James St., Ashland. Rev. Michael Shannon, pastor, officiating, Rev. Clifford Chambliss, eulogist. Interment church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, August 17 (tonight), at the F.E.
