LOCKETT, Deacon Harold Lorenzo "Baby Harold", departed this life into the hands of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, August 16, 2009, at his residence. He was the first child of Mamie Pearl Simms and James Senator Lockett, born June 16, 1919, in Newtown (Southside). He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife with whom he celebrated 45 years of marriage August 14, 2009, Teretha Battle Lockett; brother, John T. Lockett Sr. (Sharon); sister, Claudette L. Gray; devoted friends, Dr. Robert L. Pettis Sr., Deacon Charles Underdue; nieces, Vivian Griffis and Cheryl Braxton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2009, at 12 noon at Zion Baptist Church, 2006 Decatur St. Rev. Dr. Robert L. Pettis Sr., officiating. Entombment Forest Lawn Cemetery. The remains will rest in church one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Baptist Church, Men's Fellowship Ministry.

Mrs. Lockett, we were deeply saddened to hear of the loss of your husband and our dear neighbor. He was a kind and caring person and he will be missed but not forgotten. May God Bless you in your time of sorrow and we will check in on you from time to time.

I was deeply SADDENED to hear of your loss. Deacon Lockett was truly a BLESSING to my life when I attended Zion Baptist Church(South Richmond) and although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, please know that you are close in my thoughts & prayer. His humble spirit will be MISSED.
