Harry Mountcastle Obituary

MOUNTCASTLE, Harry William, born in Amherst County, Va., 79, of Manakin-Sabot, entered into eternal rest on August 20, 2009. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lorri Ann. Harry's memory is cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Kathryn; his sons and their wives, Barry William and Mary Ann, Terry Charles and Linda Lee. He is also survived by his loving sister, Molly Larsen and her husband, Chic. All who knew him will forever hold him close to their hearts. Harry proudly served his country in the U.S.A.F. for 21 years in Germany, Libya and in the Korean War, and retired in 1968. After retirement from the service, Harry began his second career with Dover Elevator, retiring from there in 1992. Always active, Harry loved spending time with his family, his garden, helping others, and proudly serving as a Past Master and treasurer of the DeWitt Clinton No. 141 Masonic Lodge. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 22, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street, also where a funeral service will be conducted Sunday, August 23, at 3 p.m. Interment at Fort Hill Memorial Park in Lynchburg, Va. on Monday, August 24, at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to go to St. Matthew's United Methodist Church at 1706 St. Matthew's Lane, Richmond, Va. 23233, or the DeWitt Clinton No. 141 Masonic Lodge at 2292 Country Lane, Maidens, Va. 23102.

If getting older isn't challenging enough, we also have to bare the loss of our friends and loved ones on this journey.
