Philip Frickert Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Aug. 23, 2009.
FRICKERT, Philip John III, 66, of Midlothian, went on to a better golf course August 22, 2009. An Ohio native, he remained feisty through 16 years of suffering, having never once complained. He loved his family. And if that were all we could say about him, it would be enough. But he was also a brilliant man of wit and immeasurable integrity who was devoted to God and proud of his service in the United States Army. A former scratch golfer, he loved fly fishing, playing bridge and was an expert on WWII's Pacific Theater and the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his father, Philip John Frickert Jr.; and his first wife, Linda Toney Frickert. He leaves to celebrate his life, his wife, Martha J. Frickert; son, Brian T. Frickert and his wife, Julia; and sons, Henry and Silas; Geoff Cummings and his wife, Mary, and their daughters, Carter and Katie Helen; his daughter, Lauren Cummings; and dog, Fred. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Evelyn Frickert; and brother, Christopher Frickert and his wife, Joanna; his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Norbert D. Baker; and his brother in-law, John T. Baker and his wife, Carol. Local services provided by Bliley Funeral Home. Private burial at Millville Cemetery in Millville, Ohio with services provided by Weigel Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, September 13, at 4 p.m., location to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Midlothian Family YMCA Capital Building Campaign (737 Coalfield Road, Midlothian, Va. 23113) for a lasting impact on families in the community.
