LEAF, Belle Tucker, 84, of Charlotte, N.C., died Saturday, September 5, 2009. She was born March 21, 1925 in St. Peter's Hospital, located in Fourth Ward, Charlotte to Isabelle Adams Tucker and William Franklin Tucker. She graduated from Central High School in 1943, and attended Brenau University where she was member of MU chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. "Bippy" was the beloved wife of the late Paul Michael Leaf, devoted mother to three sons and five grandchildren, and friend to many. They lived in Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Winston-Salem, N.C. and she and her husband retired to Charlotte in 1983. A lifelong Methodist, she attended First Methodist Church in Charlotte and Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. After retirement, they were active members at Myers Park United Methodist Church. She was a Sunday school teacher and received a Life Member Award of the United Methodist Women at both Centenary and Myers Park United Methodist Church. She and her husband were members of the Fellowship Class at Myers Park United Methodist Church, where she also served on the Wedding Committee. Bippy was a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Battle of Charlotte Chapter, and headed the committee on Good Citizens and Good Citizenship Scholarships for many years. An active supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, she was very proud of their three sons and two grandsons who received their Eagle Scout awards. She is survived by her sons, Paul Michael Leaf Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., Charles Eric "Chip" Leaf and his wife, Carla, of Charlotte, David Tucker Leaf and his wife, Pam, of Richmond, Va,; and grandchildren, Eric, Taylor, and Hannah Leaf of Charlotte and Katherine and Rebecca Leaf of Richmond. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Myers Park United Methodist Church with the Reverend Shane Page officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the Jubilee Hall. A private graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery. The Fellowship Class will be honorary pallbearers. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff and to Paul and Bippy's friends at Sharon Towers for their caring presence and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Scholarship Fund of the Fellowship Class at Myers Park United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 6161, 1501 Queens Road, Charlotte, N.C. 28207, or to Crisis Assistance Ministry, 500 Spratt Street, Charlotte, N.C. 28206. Arrangements are in the care of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. Chip and Carla,

So sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I remember her so well as one of the first people I met in Winston-Salem. She was so kind to me and frequently gave me rides from Charlotte to Winston-Salem. I know you will miss her.
