Leota Hart Obituary

HART, Leota Mae Atkins, age 92, of Mechanicsville, went to be with Jesus surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, September 15, 2009. She was also known as Otis or Lee, to her close friends, and Nanny to her large family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Hart Sr.; sisters, Louise Cox and Ellis Bullock. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Gloria Hart Mangum and her husband, W.T. "Shot" Mangum; and a son, Jesse W. Hart Jr. and his wife, Debbie Edwards Hart. She is also survived by three sisters, Ruby Hart, Donnie Hall and Gladys Lindsey; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 16, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, where services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 17. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. The family thanks Odyssey for the professional and sensitive hospice care given our mother by all those involved. Special thanks to Pat York, her nurse, for her compassionate love and affection to Mama as well as the rest of the family.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Jesse and Debbie Hart and the rest of the family. I lost my mother 1 year ago this month and know the loss you are feeling. I pray for strength for the family and my prayers are that you will find peace.
