Tom will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. My favorite 'past-time' of his was his answering machine message around Halloween. I just found out today that this wonderful man has left us. I loved reading the other entries and remembering things like his magic tricks, etc. I worked for him when he turned the magic '50' and he celebrated his birthday for the entire week. He was a total joy.

Today I heard of Tom's passing. My deepest sympathy for family and friends. I don't live in Virginia anymore but had known Tom since 1977 when I worked for him. I will miss those Christmas letters he wrote every year. He never forgot my B'day and whenever I needed legal advice he was always there. I will miss him very much. Tom, thank you for your wonderful sense of humor.
You are truly an angel now.

I have know Tommy since I was 1 yr old. His famous story of me was of my him and my sister walking me in a baby carriage and them pretending to be my mom and dad. Tommy was always a big brother to me, there when I need legal and personal advise. I willmiss him greatly as will anyone that knew him!

I was sadden to read of the death of Mr. Robinson. I met him about 30 or so years ago, when our family requested his assistance with an issue relating to a Contractor. It was around Thanksgiving and we were very upset. He settled the problem at no charge and told us to be happy. He truly was a person who cared about others!
Rest in peace Mr. Robinson.

My first memory of Tom was when he accompanied my parents and me to court to finalize my adoption by my step dad when I was just a little girl. Since then and many, many years ago I can remember going to Stuart's for lunch with my dad, Bernard and hanging out with good old Tom. I can remember thinking he had the "coolest" penmanship back then. He did love that fountain pen! It's so funny because now that I'm grown with my own family, my son, Nicholas just loved going to Stuarts to see "Uncle" Tom and going to his office to be his "helper". I'm just remembering the magic tricks, his kind demeanor, his patience, his love for children and his unique brand of humor. His random bits of trivia and stories were always so well timed and his endless teasing of my dad, will always be remembered with such fondness. It's funny to think about all of the important events in my life that Tom has been a part of. From my adoption, to my wedding, to the closing on our first home, and more after that~ and even an "unfortunate" speeding ticket... Tom was such a great man and he will be missed so very much. We all are lucky to have been able to know and love him.

To the Family and Friends of Tom, How blessed we all have been to have known Tom's great humor and dry wit all these years! I met Tom when he first became Everette's law partner, and how I have appreciated his friendship and guidance over the years. I shall miss him, his presence, his integrity, and his wisdom greatly....and always, his funny little jokes at the end of the conversation! Rest in Peace, Tom. God Be With You.

To The Family & Friends of Tom, I met Tom just a little over a year ago when I was looking for a place to live and could not believe the kindness that he showed me and my little boy. He has helped me in so many ways all the while making me laugh when I didn't think I had it in me. He left a message for me and my son a little over a week ago on my cell phone still making jokes and laughing! I will miss his kindness, his humor and that contagious smile of his! I know he has everyone laughing in Heaven. God Bless You Tom! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time.

Bob and I knew Tom during the VA ski club days. Ivy, we did meet, some time ago, and Tom told us then how happy he was to have found you again. There was such an outpouring of love today at the service and we want to add our sympathies to you and your family, and to add that we too have fond memories of Tom (and his magic).
Kind regards,

Hello, this is Jenefer (Marvin and Marsha Merkle's oldest daughter) I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Tommy. I have a plethora of memories of stories from my dad about Tommy and how solid the friendship was for all of them. Being from a younger generation I have always admired the longevity of the relationships and the strength. No matter how many miles or days passed when they were re-united whether by phone or in person they did not skip a beat. He brought much happiness to those around him and touched all of their hearts and funny bones. My thoughts are with you during this very sad time.

I do not know where to start as I have know Tommy since I was a child. I was so very saddened and shocked to learn of his sudden passing. Tommy's kindness will continue to be with all those whom knew and loved him. I so enjoyed the last time we had a nice chat and he was telling me of all the current joys he was experiencing and most of all so looking forward to marrying you Ivy. He had so much expression in his eyes and his voice when he told me of the birth of your granddaughter and that now the two of you could plan your wedding. Ivy, Tommy loved you so very much and said he had for over 46 years. You have many many wonderful memories that I hope will help comfort you.. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Ivy, and the rest of the family and friends.

Tom always took the time out for me, my partner and family. My children still talk about his tricks and racking leaves at the old office. He incorporated his thorough advice and law for 20 years. He would always say don’t pierce the veil. The East End will never be the same again. We will truly miss a community hero and leader.
Rest in Peace My Friend.

Man, what a loss. I have known Tommy since the tenth grade at J. R. Tucker, and have worked with him professionally with many mutual clients over the last thirty years. He had a delightful sense of humor and was an overall good guy. My wife Laurie and I will miss him - a lot.

Tommy was my cousin - he and his mother lived with my family briefly in the early '50's on West Cary Street; way before it became cool. Then they moved to Louisville; but I saw him sporadically after that - he went with us to Buckroe Beach one summer; and I developed a crush on him. We were about 12, I guess.
His baby pictures are in a family collage along with those of Aunt Rose.
I'm glad he found Ivy and seemed to be the happiest of people - a part of me is gone too.

Tom taught me a lot in the few years I have been at the office. If it was something that I did not understand or know, I would not just get an answer, I would get a History lesson, of how, why and the reason behind whatever I asked. Some days I would find something to ask him about. I think Tom is the smartist man I know. He was fun to be around, and just enjoyed whatever it was he was into a that time. I could go on and on about Tom, but the best thing to say about him is "there is, nor will there ever be another man like him". Everybody loved Tom. I miss you Tom!!
