May Allah (swt) grant dear brother and teacher, Mr. Harvey Mills, eternal rest in peace for his courage and love of scriptures. I grew up seeing Mr. Mills teach in the Sunday school of St. Phillips Episcopal Church and knew that he knew the Bible well. Many years later, I welcomed him when he took shahadah to declare his faith in Islam. The life of our dear brother is a testament to the love of truth from where ever it may come. Our sincerest and heart-felt condolences to the Mills family.

Our heartfel condolences to the Mills Family. We love and will sorely miss Brother Harvey. We pray G-d makes a way easy for your hearts.
We offer this special supplication for our brother: With the Name of G-d, The Merciful Benefactor, The Merciful Redeemer. Praise be to G-d, the Lord of all the worlds. You alone do we worship and Your aid we seek. Guide us to the straight way, the path of those who You have favored, not the way of those who displease You or who have gone stray. Oh G-d whoever You cause to die, cause him to die with faith as your servant. Oh G-d, forgive him and have mercy on him, keep him safe and forgive him of his faults and sins, honor the place where he settles and make his entrance wide. Aimeen.

“Grandpa” is what I fondly called him
A good man and wonderful friend
He loved his wife, his son and daughter
Right down to the very end.
He loved his grandson, Tre’ so deeply
He brought him so much joy
I’ll never forget, he always told me,
“Make sure you take care of that boy!”
He loved my first born, although no blood
From him ran through Jai’s veins
He let Jai’ know that he'd always be Grandpa
That would never, ever change
I know you’ll miss him, so will I
But I’m glad I’ve come to know
That God knew best, Grandpa needed rest
So it was time for him to go
Find comfort in knowing he’s at peace
Wipe the tears away from your eyes
He has no recollection of turmoil on earth
He’s resting with God in the skies
Just know that if EVER you need me
Right there I’ll always be
Cause nothing can ever change the fact,
“We’ll always be family”
I love you all. May God bless and keep you!

The Mills Family:
I have so many fond and good memories of Mr. Mills. He was an inspiration from the earliest days of my youth from Norrell School through my college years. Catherine has been a friend since childhood. He had the greatest sense of humor and a sharp mind. He always opened his home to our friends from Howard Univ. To Mrs. Mills, Catherine and Harvey Jr., you are all in my prayers today and in the days to come.

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
