SHARIGIAN, Gerry, 87, passed away suddenly Tuesday, September 22. Born in Detroit to survivors of the Armenian Genocide, he moved to Richmond after high school. During WWII he served in the Merchant Marines. He then married the former Ruth Sabonjian in 1948. He owned Tip Top Inn in Church Hill, before working at Reynolds Metals from 1957 to 1987. He was dearly devoted to his family. He was also very dedicated to his Armenian heritage and St. James Armenian Church. Gerry was preceded in death by his loving wife Ruth. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Sharigian; son, Armen Sharigian II (Nancy); grandson, Armen III. The family will receive friends Thursday, 5 to 7 p.m., with a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Bliley's-Central. Funeral services will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at St. James Armenian Church, 834 Pepper Ave., with interment at Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Armenian Church.
