REID, Joseph Kelly Jr., 79, of Richmond, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sheriff J.K. Reid and Sabrie Williams Reid of Plymouth, N.C. Survivors include his three sons, Joseph Kelly Reid III and his wife, Carter, Robert Forrester Reid, and Justin Gregory Reid and his fiancee, Aubrie Lewis; his grandchildren, Robert Archer Reid, Helen Stanard Reid, Katherine Carter Reid, Robert Williams Reid and Braelyn Kelly Reid, all of Richmond. He is also survived by his devoted brother, Enoch Spencer Reid Sr. and family of Greenville, N.C.; and a sister, Gracelyn Reid Graves of Eufaula, Ala. He was raised in Plymouth, N.C., where he served as a Deputy Sheriff under his father. He is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. After leaving the Corps, he graduated from Auburn University and entered a career in management consulting of over forty years, working with private and public enterprises across the county, as well as serving a term as Deputy Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Virginia. After retirement, he worked with his youngest sons in two local logistics companies. He will be remembered as a proud and dedicated father, grandfather "G-Pop" and Marine. Private funeral services in Plymouth, N.C., and burial with military honors at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, Mission Endowment, 106 Madison Street, Plymouth, N.C., 27962 or to McGuire VA Hospice (181H), 1201 Broad Rock Blvd., Richmond, Va. 23249. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of McGuire VA Hospital and Hospice for their care in making his last days comfortable.

Dear Joe,Robert and Justin and famlies. I was very sadden of news of your Father passing.. The words do not come easy during these times.. Always remember the laughs you all shared and those memories will keep your hearts in a good place.. He was a great father and grandfather and no longer has to suffer.. May that give you some peace ....Sorry this is so very late I was out of the us during this time...
