Lester Pike Obituary

In Loving memory of Lester Leroy Pike, "Pete", age 76, of Amelia, who passed away May 27, 2006. He is survived by his son, Lester Leroy Pike Jr., "Petey"; stepdaughter, Sandy Isbell; stepson, "Skipper"; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Sullivan (deceased); sisters, Patricia Steele and Geraldine Flowers; brother, Franklin Pike; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eugenia Pike and later Jacqueline Sullivan-Pike. Mr. Pike was passionate about many things in life including family, church activities and an active career as a professional musician. He served in the United States Armed Forces during the Korean War. An accomplished musician, he has also achieved many musical endeavors including performances with Old Dominion Barn Dance, Wheeling Jamboree and Hayloft Hoedown. He has released many records in the gospel and bluegrass circuits. All who knew him were blessed by his presence in their lives. He will be dearly remembered for all the love, honor and integrity he displayed throughout his life. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St. in Amelia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 29, 2006 at Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Pete's passing. I know he fought a good fight. He was well loved, and will be missed by everyone. The music world has lost yet another of our founding fathers.

We were very sorry to hear that Mr.Pike had passed away. We not only did a lot of work for him ,he would just stop by to say Hi. He was a great person and I am glad we got to know him.

tho pete wasn't a personal friend of mind , I remember pete with buz buzby / jon hall/ don stover and the bye u boys on tv in the washington area as well as water mellon park , I loved their music especialy pete's I can see an angel .I am saddened by his passing . not only will PETE see an angel , now he will be one. Pete had a great deal of impact on me as a musician when I met him in 1954. Over time we lost touch but renewed our friendship a few years ago. He was a gifted musician, a loyal friend and an all around nice guy. Along with many, many others, I will miss him dearly.

To The Pike ,Steele families and all others who knew and loved Pete. Kim Troy and Matt,Missy.I had the great experience of working at Namaw's Restaurant when it was brand new and fondly remember calling him "Uncle Pete" He was someone I never forgot when I moved away several years ago. He will be missed by many.
