JoAnn Perko Obituary

Perko, JoAnn (Kinum) ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. JoAnn Kinum Perko, 84, of St. Augustine, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2008. She was the daughter of the late George and Estelle Stewart Kinum. JoAnn was predeceased by her husband, Carl Perko. She is survived by several cousins. Previously, she lived in Loudonville, N.Y., the Stockade area of Schenectady, N.Y. and Sedona, Ariz. JoAnn was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and a charter member of the New York Capital District Chapter of the 99's, a women's pilot organization founded by the late Amelia Earhart. She contributed much time and energy to various committees at Ocean and Racquet Resort, where she resided in St. Augustine. She was a member of Anastasia Baptist Church. Through her membership in NARFE, a federal retirement organization, she assisted military wives in gaining knowledge about their benefits. In addition, JoAnn was a very talented seamstress, artist and creative homemaker. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4114 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.

We the members of NARFE Chapter 33 of St. Augustine, extend our condolences to the Family and friends of JoAnn. JoAnn was our Services Officer in years past and did a great service for those who lost their spouses and needed guidance and assistance to take the actions required to receive their benefits. We will miss such a wonderful and helpful person.
