Mr. Harrison Dunbrook (Uncle Dunny),
Well I hope you and my grandfather (Joseph McAuliffe) are having a Martini and enjoying the best view of the cottage and the lake you have ever had together. Both you and my grandfather were men of great honor, courage, valor, and you have left this world and especially this country, a much better place due to your sacrifices. The definition of a hero is always debated but what cannot be debated is that to your families you were both our heroes. While we are all saddened by your loss it gives us great comfort to know that you are now further strengthening your relationship with God as you have embarked on God's greatest gift bestowed upon mankind, Eternal Life. I am honored to have been blessed by God with the privilege to have had an Uncle such as you and a Grandfather such as mine.
May God Bless you Sir!

My deepest sympathies are with all of you at this time, as I know 'Dad' will be greatly missed. He touched so many lives everywhere he went - his humor and wit will never be forgotten, I know I won't forget! Always remember, he lives on in each of you and in your memories. Godspeed.

John and family,
Nothing can be more difficult than to lose a parent. I'm sorry I was not there on Friday to share your grief. I know, though, how difficult it must be for you and your family at this time, from my own experiences of late. But I leave you with these thoughts. Focus on the memories and not on the loss. Your dad is in a better place now, out of pain, out of suffering and into a glorious and peaceful resting place. Our prayers are with you as you move through this most difficult time in the hopes that they will uplit your heart through your grief and beyond. God bless you all.
Fondly,
Ellen Burke and famil

There are not the right words to express my feelings. You were such a big part of our lives. Dad always called you his other brother, and our uncle. Whenever we were together, our families were one big family, and it is still that way. We had so much fun. The cottages, in which now 4 generations have shared, are all part of our fondest memories. Games of cards, horseshoes and bocci ball, stories of the past, swimming, fishing and rides in the boats were pieces of heaven. The peacefulness of the waves gently touching the shore, the glorious sunrise and magnificent sunset over the bay, showed us small glimpses of heaven. Watching you and Dad sit in the yard looking out over the water last summer, treasuring the time you had, sometimes talking, sometimes not, helped me realize that God does take care of everything, although not always in our time or on our terms, but in His. You suffered much during your last years on earth, and never complained. Now you are in heaven, and every once in a while something will happen reminding us that your spirit is ever present, and still guiding us. Thank you Uncle Dunny for always being part of our lives, and for “your always open arms” making us a part of yours. Thank you for your family, and for their families which we cherish and love dearly, they are also a part of our family. And thank you God, for the precious gift of “Harrison Frederick Dunbrook” and the life he shared with all of us. Until we meet again. . .

My sincere condolences to your family. Although their friendship was forged during their stay at Albany Med, he never forgot my husband who passed away June 15, 2006. Dunny was a caring friend to him. He will be missed.

I am sorry to hear of Mr. Dunbrook's passing. I did some work at the cottage and got to know him quite well and spent many hours talking with him as he recalled his life experiences. He visited our motel in Henderson when I changed professions and he was one of the customers I counted as a friend. I missed talking with him as I visited the camp. My condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed!
