Wow. I am so sad. When I was in upstate New York Swapan and I traveled to Hunter college for an Objectivist conference (which was disappointing, unfortunately). I had a bad divorce and had to spend a few years pulling myself together. I recently began restudying Objectivism and started thinking of reconnecting with Swapan (which is how I got to this page.) He was a very even tempered person, very kind toward me. I am so sad that I missed the chance to reconnect with him, and to say good bye.

I remember Swapan from the time he immigrated to Canada. He lived with my family for over a year whilst he pursued a graduate degree at Ottawa University. He later moved to Waterloo. He introduced me to Ayn Rand and her philosophy on Objectivism. Swapan was a blast. We had an awesome time together. RIP Swapan. You are missed. Peace!

Swapan Gupta was not simply a friend and elder brother to me - he was a motivator. He is the most true blue Engineer I have seen with a real passion and open love for the subject. He believed in rationality, Science and technology and he believed in living his life to the full. He enjoyedtravelling, food, books, internet, rational theories and practices and above all I.I.T. ,Kharagpur, which was a temple for him. He should have lived for 10 more years and the world could have been richer with his pure knowledge and wisdom. His wife had been for 28 years not only a part of his life but a part of his heart and soul. They were together in everything and one could have literally realised seeing them what an ideal couple should be. I only pray and wish that Sumita continues with his good work and fulfill his mission. She has the talent and may she be blessed with the enthusiasm and energy to do it.

Dear Sumita,
I wish to convey my sadness and sympathy for Swapan's passing. We walked together for years. During this period I had an opportunity to know him very well. He was a good man, a good citizen, and a wonderful human being.

I miss him very much.

To Sumita and family, I wish to convey my great sadness and sympathy upon hearing of Swapan's passing.

You were wonderful neighbors, and Swapan was great company to my family when he would cross the street and spend time on the porch, discussing great and not so great literature, politics and culture, Jeffersonian Democracy, and whatever other topic that came up. He was a good neighbor, a good man, a good citizen, and a wonderful human being.

I am sorry that among the many gifts he was blessed with, length of years and growing old in a contented, comfortable manner was not to be.

I am so very heartsick for your loss. I will remember you both in my prayers.

You were wonderful neighbors, and Swapan was great company to my family when he would cross the street and spend time on the porch, discussing great and not so great literature, politics and culture, Jeffersonian Democracy, and whatever other topic that came up. He was a good neighbor, an intelligent and interesting man, a good citizen, and a wonderful human being.

I am sorry that among the many gifts he was blessed with, length of years and growing old in a contented, comfortable manner was not to be.

I am so very heartsick for your loss. I will remember you both in my prayers.
