Dorothy Savery Obituary

Savery, Dorothy A. WATERFORD Dorothy A. Savery, 74, of Middletown Road died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at her residence, surrounded by her family. Born in Albany, she was educated in schools in Guilderland and Altamont and was a 1974 graduate of Hudson Valley Community college. Before her retirement, Dorothy was employed as a cosmetologist at Eddy Memorial in Troy and earlier at the Daughters of Sarah in Albany. In her earlier years she also had been employed at Albany Felt Co. in Menands. She was a communicant of Grace Episcopal Church in Waterford and was one of the original drivers for the Meals-on-Wheels Program in Waterford. She was a former Den Mother in the Cub Scout program in Waterford. Dorothy loved to visit casinos and shop. She was an avid N.Y. Yankees fan and enjoyed attending her grandson's sporting events. She is survived by her husband Louis R. Savery; her children, Timothy L. Savery and Dawn M. Savery of Waterford; her mother Eleanor Bikowitz Draper; her stepfather Harold Draper of Guilderland; her brother James Kemp (Cindy) of Colonie; her grandchildren, Matthew L. Berthiaume and Jacob Charles Savery as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford and at 10 a.m. at Grace Church, 34 3rd St., Waterford. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday 4-8 p.m. Those who wish may make contributions to Community Hospice, 295 Valley View Ave., Rensselaer, NY 12144. Special thanks are extended to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, Dr. and Mrs. Belmonte and family and Mother Kathy Coons at Grace Church.
