Charles Meleco Obituary

Meleco, Charles J. ALBANY Charles J. Meleco, age 95 years, of Albany, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Albany Memorial Hospital. He was born in Calabria Italy and came to the United States when he was 14 years old with his family. Charles was a resident of Albany since he came to this country. He was employed as a machinist for GE in Schenectady for 27 years. Mr. Meleco's grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He was an avid bingo player, attending bingo for many years with his late wife Mary. Loving husband of the late Mary T. Packard Meleco; devoted father of Vincent (Karen) Meleco Sr. of North Greenbush, Patrick (Mary) Meleco of Warner Robins, Ga., Michael (Mary) Meleco Sr. of East Greenbush and Mary Ann Casale of Colonie. Son of the late Vincenzo J. and Mary Antico Meleco; grandfather of Vincent Jr. (Barbara), Matthew, Christopher and Steven Meleco, John, Lisa, Caroline, Sarah and Anthony Meleco, Michael (Yolanda) Meleco Jr., and Seth (Kizzianne) Casale and Scott Casale; great-grandfather of Alexandra and Jenna Rose Meleco and Dexter Charles Casale. Brother of the late Josephine Fera, Dominic Meleco and Elizabeth Maclutsky. The family of Charles would like to give a special thanks to the B Unit nursing staff at Albany County Nursing Home for their love and special care given to Charles during the past few years. Also a thank you to the 4th floor nurses at Albany Memorial Hospital for their tender care this past week to the entire family. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, Saturday morning at 8:30 and 9:30 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, North Greenbush where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Friday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush. Condolence page at www.wjlyonsfuneralhome.com
