Joan Munson Obituary

Munson, Joan C. PRATTSVILLE Joan Bennett Munson, age 74 years, of Pratts-ville, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Albany Medical Center. She was born in Albany and lived in North Greenbush before moving to Prattsville in 1987. Joan was a home-maker and mother and for five years was a security guard at Albany Airport. She was a member of the Joseph E. Zaloga American Legion Post Ladies Auxiliary #1520 in Albany. Joan was an avid fisherman who loved the 1000 Islands. She made venison stew for the guys during hunting season. Joan loved going to the casino, playing bingo, bowling, watching old-time movies, CNN News and Nancy Grace. Joan, having played many hours of scrabble with her sister MaryAnn, now she can play scrabble with our mother who's been waiting for a partner. Joan loved visits by her brother Frankie and loved card games with hubby and family. She loved various sports, especially the Buffalo Bills. Most of all, she loved going to Mary's house for picnics and being around her family and friends. Joan loved Elvis. Wife of Harvey Munson of Prattsville and the late Joseph Grieco; mother of Christine (Gene) Dewitt of N.C., Mary (Paul) Nadeau of Troy and Joseph (Laura) Grieco of Poestenkill and the late Gary T. Grieco; stepmother of Deborah Munson, Linda Munson, Michele (Michael) Peart, Janice Munson, Harvey (Lara) Munson Jr. and the late Joan Munson; daughter of the late James (Pop) and Mary V. Bennett; sister of Elizabeth Fulton of Colonie, James (Agnes) Bennett of Albany, Richard (Karla) Bennett of Colonie, Robert Bennett and George Bennett of Albany, Frank (Tina Miller) Bennett of Albany, MaryAnn Davis of Colonie, Constance (John) Pfister of Texas, John (Debbie) Bennett of Schenectady, Barbara (William) Evans of Albany and the late Joseph V. Bennett; sister-in-law of Bonnie Bennett of Colonie; grandmother of Cindy Dewitt, Cherie (Robert) Nadeau, Gina (Jason) Campbell, PJ, Jennifer and Joseph Nadeau, Joseph Grieco III, Kristy (Shane) Moore, Brian Grieco, Kaitlynn Grieco and Brandon Ashley; great-grandmother of Jason, Jenna, Bobby, Jaden, Maryah and Peyton; devoted friend of Rosanne and Linda Cross, Chris Snyder and King; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, Saturday morning at 10:00. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Friday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in New Rural Cemetery, East Greenbush. I was so sorry to hear about your Mom. I just found out this weekend when I was visiting with Bill. Please know that your Mom will be with you.
