Virginia Collins Obituary

Collins, Virginia E. COHOES Virginia E. Collins, 97, a resident of the Eddy Ford Nursing Home, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 11, 2008. Born on October 30, 1910, in Watervliet, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Andrew H. and Grace Boice Bertrand. Virginia was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. She was employed by the Jacobson Shirt Company in Troy as a seamstress, for many years until retiring. Virginia was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart of Mary Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert L. Collins and a son, Joseph L. Collins; one brother, Andrew H. Bertrand; and two sisters, Bertha B. Kenney and Eleanor Bertrand Tandy. Survivors include a brother, Jules Bertrand, three grandchildren and four great-grand-children; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. from the chapel at Oakwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday, July 14, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (corner of 115th Street and 4th Ave.), Lansingburgh. Interment will be held in St. Peter's Cemetery in Troy.
