She was born in New York City on October 10, 1948, the daughter of the late William and Marie (Eisenzopf) Petzinger. Irene had worked as a librarian at the Albany College of Pharmacy. Kaplan; German Shepherd named Gwen Stefani, and wonderful partner, Arthur W. Clark. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Jeffery and Family
I'm sorry to hear about Irene's passing.
We met online while doing family research. We were hoping to find out if we were related. We talked a couple of times on the phone and I will treasure those conversations.
May she rest in peace and will be greatly missed.

We all probably remember those ‘favourite ‘people from our childhood. The ones who were so beautiful, magical and overwhelmingly special that their presence was like a gift to be looked forward to and cherished. Those ones that inspire love from a child without having to try.
Well Irene was one of these people for me.
Irene worked with my Mum at Albany medical centre and frequently babysat for us kids when we were growing up. Those times that she did so were special treats for me. She was wonderful in my eyes - Like a princess. And so kind, gentle and softly spoken. And magic! – she effortlessly made us tiny tiny origami swans and other creatures (I especially remember the swans!) out of seemingly innocuous pieces of notebook paper.

Later after moving to Pittsburgh Irene very kindly, and on the spur of the moment during a visit to my parents, invited me to come and stay for a weekend. That weekend was heavenly! And oddly enough (given that I was 11 at that time and could be said to have been at a difficult stage!) I think Irene seemed to enjoy it as much as I did.

Meeting Irene again later in life as an adult only re-confirmed my childhood memories of an amazing angel of a person. She deserved to live a happy long and full life but not all things of course turn out as we think they should.

I would like to think however that wherever she is right now Irene is finally pain free, happy and enjoying herself. I certainly know that we are worse off without her.

Irene and I were friends for just ten years. She was a great person, generous, creative, and very, very kind. I will always miss her.

I'm sorry for your loss. I very much enjoyed my time with Irene. I think it was to short, but I will cherish it. I learned alot from her. She will forever be in my heart. Good luck in all you do in life Jeff. I hope one day to see your name in big bold letters in the credits of a great movie!!
Give Gwen a nice chest scratch for me. :-)

I worked with Irene at ACP and always enjoyed her humor, her dedication, and her devotion to liberal education. I'm so saddened to read of her passing. She was a wonderful woman. My thoughts are with her family.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.....as time gently eases your grief, may beautiful memories restore the joy that has been taken from your heart..
