I did not know Matt very well, but remember riding the bus with him in our early high school years. I know that I, along with countless others, remember him as a genuinely kind hearted person with an infectious smile. To the Mangan Family:
I was saddened to hear the loss of your son, Matt. I, like John Thomas, was a member of ESYO's orchestra and percussion ensemble with Matt, too, but back then I was incredibly shy and mostly stayed to myself. Still to this day, I often think of ESYO and all the members, particularly the percussionists, and am glad to have been a part of such an organization, as well as having known your son.

Mangan Family,
I just wanted to say that I am very sorry about your loss. I didnt know him that well but I remember Matt coming into Dunkin Donuts every morning for a coffee..He was always very polite and always had a smile on his face! You could tell he has a passion for music because he always had his earphones in, whether he was in line waiting for something or driving away in his car.. My sympathy goes out to his family and friends..

Dear Mangan family,
Matt and I played in both the Percussion Ensemble and Repetoire Orchestra together. In fact, Mrs. Mangan may remember driving the two of us from Percussion to Orchestra rehearsal many a Tuesday. I always viewed Matt as a younger brother. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing a very quiet and shy boy come out of his shell as we grew older through high school. I'll never forget his very calm and laid back demeanor. I think of him often when listening to our study recording of the Percussion Ensemble's performance of "Diabolical Varations" at Tanglewood, which featured him on an extremely challenging Timpani part, which he mastered. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Matt Mangan was a wonderful boy (and someone who I had a gigantic crush on in high school). He always said hello to people in the hallways, always took the time to catch up with you at a party, and remembered stories that you told him. I will remember him as a beautiful, dedicated, and genuine person who made me smile every time I saw him. I am so sorry for your loss and am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
