Keith Crayon Obituary

Crayon, Keith ALBANY Keith Crayon, 53, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2008 at his home. He was born to the late Elizabeth M. Kirkley and Willie Crayon on December 24, 1954 in Albany, N.Y. Keith was raised and educated in Albany. He held several jobs before landing a position with the Albany City School District, working as a custodial engineer for 23 years. He was a kind and compassionate person, loving husband, caring father, a considerate brother and friend to all he met. Keith was not only a large man physically, but a man who was considered a "gentle giant;" a man with a big heart, a contagious smile, nonjudgmental and a great sense of humor! He will also be remembered in the neighborhood as a father to the neighborhood children; Keith really practiced "it takes a village to raise a child." He also showed his love and compassion for his wife, fulfilling a commitment of being together over 34 years. Keith loved and cared for his children dearly especially his granddaughter, Keyarie. Keith leaves to mourn his passing his wife Rosann; children, Kimberly, Kyle and Keisha Crayon; granddaughter Keyarie; his brothers and sisters, Joan Griffin, James Prince, Kim Crayon and Deborah Kamara of Albany, N.Y., Joyce Kirkley of Ga., Kevin Crayon of Fla. and Denise Kirkley-Cain of Washington DC. Bruce and Wayne Crayon preceded him in death. He is also survived by a host of other relatives, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. To leave a special message for the family online, visit: www.NewcomerFamily.com

To Ann, the kids and siblings of Keith: I was in total shock and overwhelmed when I was reading the paper and saw Keith. I am so sorry for your loss. Keith was a good man, friend and very caring. To Ann and the entire Crayon family-

I am deeply sorry to hear of your loss. Pray to God, for you must trust that he will carry you though.

I will always remember Keith for his great heart and his fathering skills. Just watching him, one of few men who had such dedication to his family, is such an inspiration to our young men. And NO ONE could compare to his grilling skills when we used to have those cookouts back in the day.

He will truly be missed.

Thoughts and prayers,
Camisha Smith (Young) and family
