Walter J. Staiger

Staiger, Walter J. EAST SCHODACK Walter J. Staiger, 90, died suddenly Friday, July 18, 2008 at his home. Mr. Staiger was born in NYC and moved to East Schodack in 1933. He served in the military police with the Army during World War II. He had been employed as a pressman at Fort Orange Paper Co. in Castleton for 31 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in East Schodack. Mr. Staiger was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Jane Staiger; a brother, John Staiger; and a sister, Helen Rabie. Survivors include his sons, Walter D. Staiger and his wife Judy of East Schodack and Kenneth G. Staiger of Ridgefield, Wash. and his wife Mary Lou Staiger of Remsen, N.Y. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Brooke Hurlbut of Selkirk and Emily Jane Staiger of East Schodack and a great-granddaughter, Brie Hurlbut. Funeral from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St., Nassau Wednesday morning at 10:00. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, East Schodack.
