Jean Fitch Obituary

Fitch, Jean STILLWATER Mrs. Jean Lombardo Fitch, 73, of No. Hudson Ave., died Monday, July 21, 2008 at Mary's Haven, Saratoga Springs, after an extended illness. Born in Troy, August 17, 1934, daughter of the late Anthony and Louise Pascarella Lombardo. She was a 1952 graduate of Mechanicville High School, and also from Hudson Valley Community College. A homemaker, Jean had been a seasonal clerk for the NYS Department of Tax and Finance in Albany, and had also worked at the former Galante's Paper Company and the Grand Union. An avid NY Yankee baseball fan, she also enjoyed bowling, arts and crafts, such as knitting, crocheting, ceramics, and was a talented self-taught paint and pencil sketch artist, and though never taking lessons, was a proficient piano player. Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Herbert David Fitch Sr., who died two weeks ago, and an infant son, David Herbert Fitch. Survivors include her daughters, Deborah (Richard) Mix of Perry, N.Y., Kathleen (John) Morocco of Mechanicville and Bianca (Everett) Folmsbee of Malta; and sons, Herbert (Sabrina Nims) Fitch Jr. of Fort Edward and Anthony (Praphai) Fitch of Mechanicville; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and cousins; nieces and nephews. The Fitch family thanks Dr. Ferraro and the staff at Latham NYOH, also Community Hospi-ces of both Rensselaer and Saratoga and Mary's Haven, for their care, compassion and concern for both Jean and her husband. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Calling hours at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Interment of both Herb and Jean will be held on Friday, July 25, at 1 p.m. in the Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist Jean's great-grandson's medical expenses at Zachary's Medical Fund, First Niagara Bank, 843 Route 146, Clifton Park, NY 12065, in loving memory of Jean M. Fitch.

Mom, I want to tell you how hard it was to endure Thanksgiving without you..I found it very hard to sit down and eat Thanksgiving without you and remembering how you'd make sure everyone had everything on their plate before Dad said his blessing...I also remember how you suffered to make dinner and always said it went by so quickly...not this year! I miss you and Love you so much..almost like part of me went with you...Loving you always,Herb Jr.

Aunt Jean and Uncle Herb, you will both be missed...I will always remember driving up to your house to visit and when you both would come down to visit us at our house...I have very fond memories of visits, bowling, Mom going up for coffee, playing on your piano, playing on your front porch (like it was yesterday)...the list goes on and on...I know you are in good hands in Heaven (and not suffering any longer) with God...Love you both and will miss both of you more than you will ever know..

Anthony,

If ever there were words that could truly heal the soul during times like these, I wish that I knew them so that I could share them with you and your family. May you take solace knowing that the suffering is over and find the strength to carry on their legacy living each day to the fullest. In the moments of sadness, fill your hearts with the beautiful memories of your life growing up with each other. Hold close to each other today and always. My sincere apologies for your loss.

My prayers are with you all.

Aunt Jean,

You were a very dear Aunt to me. There is no one else like you or could ever replace you! My birthday this year was sad that I had to say good bye to Uncle Herb but I was very happy to be able to say Good Bye to you and hear you say "I love you" one last time. Just so you know - you started Brian's sugar rush with a lick of the Krispy Kreme donutes you gave him when he was just 2-3 months old. I'll never forget that day like it was yesterday. You will be missed! May peace be with you and Uncle Herb! Keep an eye on all of us from Heaven! God Bless!

Love,
Meghan & Eric, Eric Jr. Brian and Kyle
