William Barlow Obituary

Barlow, William M. RENSSELAER William M. Barlow, age, 87 years, of East Street, passed away Monday, July 21, 2008 at Community Hospice at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. He was born in Oneonta and had lived in Rensselaer for over 60 years. Mr. Barlow was employed as a truck driver for 38 years, retiring from Staats Express. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Islands, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 294. Bill was an avid NY Yankee baseball fan, but the joy of his life were his grandchildren. Husband of Marion Buzzuska Barlow of Rensselaer; father of Susan A. Welsh of Rensselaer, Marcia E. (John) Schultz of Rensselaer and the late Teresa Mary Barlow; grandfather of Cynthia (William) Wakeman, Edward G. Welsh, Jeffrey (Korral) Schultz, Kevin Schultz, Lisa Schultz and Brian Schultz; great-grandfather of Jacob Schultz and Ashley Wakeman; son of the late Dan C. and Ada Mattice Barlow; brother of Ellen G. Brown of Oneonta and the late Aileen Wenck, Dan C. Barlow Jr., Florence E. Hauser, Mary Jean Schmitt and Kenneth V. Barlow; brother-in-law of Betty and William Keppel; and Uncle Will to Bobby (Jill) Keppel. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Albany Medical Center Unit C8 and the Community Hospice staff at Samaritan Hospital in Troy for their care, concern and support. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer Friday morning at 9:30 and 10:30 at St. John's Church, Herrick Street, Rensselaer, where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
