Although I have many, my favorite memory of Paul is him, our friend Jason and I having a barbeque right in front of their apartment on Madison Ave. Jason had bought some nice steaks and Paul put them on the grill for about 3 minutes. He called them "flame kissed." We may as well have eaten them raw, and we all laughed about it. Paul pulled out the guitar and Jason and I tried to sing along, something by Guns 'n Roses I'm sure. Although we were smack in the middle of a busy downtown street, with not a blade of grass to be seen, we all felt like we had got away from the world for a bit.

He was so happy to be with Katie and it looked like he would explode with pride when he talked about his children, I know it will be hard without him. Always remember he truly loved the three of you, that's all that's important. When I look back, I remember so many good things, I hope everyone else does too.

I have known Paul since I was a child. When I was young I would go to spend the weekend with him, Kate, Paul, and then Kailyn. He would take me fishing with him on the Battenkill River, or sometimes to Albany on a job. We would listen to music and he would play his guitar. I thought he was the coolest guy around! I remember going to Virginia Beach on vacation with Paul, Kate, and the kids. It was the first vacation that I had been on, and my only real vacation until I was an adult. During that time, Paul was like a brother to me, and my only consistant male influence/presence.

My heart aches for everyone. I truly cannot imagine what you are all going through and dealing with in all of your stages of life.

To my wonderful niece and nephew, you are your father, his living legacy. Never forget that. You have been a source of pride and joy for him, and will continue to be. You were his life.

To my sister, you gave him his children and in them his life will live on. His kind heart and truly gentle soul is inside of them. I know that he loved you forever and appreciated you for being such a wonderful and loving mom to his children.

To Jenny, I am very sorry for the loss of your son. I know that you loved him and worried about him. Now your worry has been replaced by grief, and for that I am sad for you. Worry can really take hold, but grief can consume.

I want you to know that I am here for you my sweet sister, niece, and nephew. You are my family. I don't have many, and I treasure and cherish you. I love you more than you may realize and can be there in an hour if you need me, day or night.
